Southwest Maxillofacial Surgery and Implant Center Introduce
Southwest Maxillofacial Surgery and Implant Center, located at 3885 Princeton Lakes Way # 406 in Atlanta, GA 30331, offers specialized services in oral surgery and dental implants. Headed by Dr. Gordon, the clinic has received both positive feedback and some areas for potential improvement based on recent patient experiences.
Several patients have highlighted the professionalism, timeliness, and thoroughness of Dr. Gordon and his staff. One reviewer described their extraction experience as pain-free both before and after the procedure, which they found "extraordinary." Dr. Gordon's "bedside manner" was also commended, with a patient noting his follow-up call the evening after surgery as an added bonus. Another patient explicitly stated they "highly recommend his office" for outstanding quality service.
However, another review shared some significant issues regarding the administrative and communication aspects of the clinic. This patient reported discrepancies between the appointment time stated in an email sent by the surgery center and a time communicated over a phone call on the morning of the appointment. This led to confusion and the patient arriving at what they were later told was the wrong address, despite it being the one listed in the email.
Furthermore, this reviewer expressed concerns about the doctor's demeanor upon their late arrival due to the address error, stating that the doctor seemed inconsiderate and implied he was wasting time. The patient also noted an issue with their driver being asked to leave the room after the IV was inserted, which caused discomfort. The main critique in this review centers on the facility's accuracy in their communications regarding appointment details and the doctor's perceived lack of friendliness and respect towards a patient who was already under the influence of laughing gas.
In summary, Southwest Maxillofacial Surgery and Implant Center, under the direction of Dr. Gordon, appears to provide professional and effective surgical care with a commendable focus on patient comfort and follow-up. However, potential patients should be aware of the administrative and communication issues raised in at least one recent review regarding appointment scheduling, address accuracy, and patient-doctor communication.

Southwest Maxillofacial Surgery and Implant Center Reviews
Today, I had all four of my wisdom teeth extracted. Originally, I was supposed to be sedated with anesthesia, but I had to switch over to laughing gas because I ate a granola bar before the appointment. Which I had no problem with because rules are rules. Beginning my appointment I was very nervous and anxious as this is the first major procedure I've had done in my entire existence of living. Dr. Gordon seemed kind, but midway through the procedure, I began to cry and show heavy emotion. I also could feel the pressure and pulling of him extracting my teeth this would cause my body to have reflexes in certain places like my legs or my hands. Midway through the procedure he stopped and proceeded to tell me “Do you know I have surgical tools that could cause harm to you and you’re moving”? He also said I'm asking if you're okay and you're in pain and you're not replying you can mouth to me no or yes. I did not feel as though I could given that there were tools in my mouth. I was so afraid to speak due to the procedure and did not want to make any movements in certain instances like when he brought out the drill, but he asked me once or twice and I remember responding. When I replied to this question and told him I understood, I am okay, I am just afraid, he seemed agitated. Honestly, I wanted to ask him are you really getting mad at me for being in a vulnerable state and not able to control my pain when you are drilling in my mouth and sticking me with tools? Are you also mad at me because I'm emotional? He made me feel like it was my fault for being in pain and I could cause him to mess up. He showed no empathy. I did have the teeth successfully removed, but I will never forget the impact Dr. Gordon left me as a young black woman who was just scared. He is also very rough-handed too. My bottom teeth provided some difficulty for him to extract and it felt like he wanted to yank my tooth out to get me out of his chair and move on to the next patient. He showed me no empathy and gave me no comfort. The technicians even had to apologize on his behalf and let me know that he does this often to other patients and he had a bad day, but that was no excuse. The only thing that provided me comfort was the gospel music I had playing in my ear, I even told the team I could not move forward without listening to God because I only received comfort from him. Dr. Gordon also seemed irritated about me asking for my airpod. I also feel as though the laughing gas was not helpful. He did not provide a follow-up call to me to check on me nor did he say anything to me after the procedure. He let his technicians and assistants provide comfort and I just want to say to those two young ladies thank you and I hope you become a dentist one day. I will not be recommending anyone to this provider. This was also at the Villa Rica location not Camp Creek. Which I wanted to go to camp creek but the staff told me it would be cheaper to attend the Villa Rica location.
Nov 14, 2024 · Tamiya MadielinMy teenager needs wisdom teeth extracted. The staff was very friendly, professional, and thorough. The doctor took time to understand our needs and explain the process. No surprise billing, all the numbers were provided up front. I look forward to a positive experience with the upcoming procedure!
