Marshall Kurtz, D.M.D. Reviews
Although Dr Kurtz extracted teeth from both my children with no issues, I had a more complicated situation and my experience with his practice was very negative. I am sharing in case others have had similar experience and to help future patients avoid my situation. I had two teeth extracted in Sept 2020 with the plan to get implants. Over the years I dealt with them, I found the office to be very disorganized. It was difficult to get timely appointments (I realize it was during pandemic, but during treatment over 2 years, that did not change). At every appointment (except the surgery itself) I had wait times of over an hour, at minimum. Even for what was supposed to be a “quick follow up”. The office was inconsistent and unclear in their pre operative instructions with respect to prophylactic antibiotics . Thankfully, they did give a post-op pamphlet which I read and followed to a T. Before one surgery they asked me to sign a consent and waiver of liability for surgery…but they had listed the WRONG surgery (it was not what I was scheduled for and was confused with another patient) on the form. Overall, my outcome was not successful. Of course - there are always small odds of failure. However, my personal feeling was that the disorganization of the office contributed to the lack of success. Of course, to be fair, there is no way to prove this for sure. But, for example, for a second surgery after the first implants failed (and Dr. Kurtz did tell me he would not charge me for a second surgery), we agreed on a plan of action to place an implant. However, when I awoke from surgery, Dr. Dr. Kurtz told me he had decided that I would not be happy with outcome so he decided to perform another procedure, to rebuild my ridge, and not place an implant. I feel that if he had taken time to look at my mouth, and taken and additional X-rays (which he had not done), he would have better planned for the extensive surgery he ended up giving me. Whatever the reason, I got a very bad infection and lost all feeling in my upper left side of lip. Yet Dr Kurtz was slow to believe I had an infection and was hesitant to prescribe the right antibiotics. He finally did prescribe a cocktail of antibiotics after a few weeks of me being miserable. The infection started to clear up within 24 hours. When I told him I was upset that I lost all feeling in my upper left lip, and asked if it would ever return he replied, “Probably not. This is what we call making a big deal out of nothing”. I will never forget that moment! I felt that he was dismissive of my concerns so I started to bring my husband to my appointments so Dr. Kurtz would take me seriously. (I am a professional who works consulting with top management of companies, so not exactly a shrinking violet). Dr. Kurtz told him “It is better when you come with her, she is less hysterical”. Dr. Kurtz did have to operate again to remove the infected matter. When I asked what the plan going forward would be, he told me he would try the same surgery again (and again for no charge so I did appreciate that). I asked if there is anything we should change for a better outcome and he said no he would do it the same way. I left and never made another appointment. That was mid 2022. His office never called or followed up. I still have a very large deficiency and two missing teeth in my mouth (I have worked with my dentist to create and wear a temporary prosthetic for aesthetic purposes ever since). It is now 2024.
Jan 07, 2024 · Samantha Addonizio ButtsGreat experience!! Dr. Kurtz made my daughter feel very comfortable, she is afraid of needles and she said he joked and danced around to distract her while she was getting hooked up to her anesthesia. The procedure was amazingly quick before I knew it she was in recovery. The nurses were very detailed in giving me information for after care. I hightly recommend Dr. Kurtz!!
Jun 04, 2023 · Tammy HoppI would and actually already have recommended Dr. Kurtz and the entire team and staff for oral surgery. My experience was amazing - the ease of making an appointment, communication with the office and financial staff, the meetings I had with Dr. Kurtz for a consult, my surgery itself (having all four wisdom teeth removed), my follow up and recovery- everything was seamless, everyone is kind and informative, easy to talk to- truly one of the best experiences!
May 24, 2023 · Jean Marie PriscottDr. Kurtz’s office was professional and kind when my son was treated for his wisdom teeth extractions. They listened to my concerns and made sure he was comfortable and pain free. He had a seamless experience with little bleeding, swelling and pain the day after. No subsequent problems or issues and they were available for any questions I had after the procedure. My daughter will likely be treated there also in the next few months. I would highly recommend this office and Dr. Kurtz personally.
Jul 17, 2021 · Suzanne GuidoI was very impressed by the level of care from Dr. Kurtz and his staff. The process was literally painless, I did not experience any pain during or after the surgery. By far the best experience I've had so far with a dental professional. The coolest 3D imaging! The use of the latest technologies was evident throughout their office, reassuring me I was getting premium care.
