True North Oral Surgery & Implants

Had an implant done by Dr Ackerman yesterday am. It was a great experience! The whole staff was so great and professional. (Little humor mixed in by Dr Ackerman) Was informed of every step. BONUS…no pain during or after!!! I received a follow up call that afternoon from Tami, who assisted with surgery. I so appreciated the call and she reviewed all instructions and answered any questions or concerns. I was so happy I chose True North!

In the early part of the year I had 2 upper wisdom teeth extracted. I wish I would have done this before my mid 40’s. Dr Johnson had them both out within 15 minutes. So easy and so efficient. His assistant was so caring and nice. I had one lower wisdom tooth on the bottom, it was partially impacted. Dr Johnson expressed a need for sedation with this particular tooth. The moment that I made my appointment for that tooth, I was having hard times. I had no one to care for me coming off of sedation. Dr Johnson suggested that I have nitrous oxide (laughing gas). I agreed and that made my procedure comfortable and it was like 5 minutes. I was able to drive myself home. He is very skilled and very good at what he does. He gave me prescriptions for pain (I never needed them) and some antibiotics as a preventative. I am older than usual for this procedure, so infection risk is higher. Oh, they also sent me home with ice cream both visits!! I am 4 weeks post procedure. I feel great and my healing was wonderful and minimal swelling for 2 days, no infection. I am so happy with my decision to get this done and over with. I am very appreciative for all the help that your office provided to me. Thank you Dr Johnson and all of your staff!!!

Disappointment with Customer Service I am writing to express my disappointment with the customer service I received today while trying to make an appointment for my son’s wisdom teeth removal. After having a positive experience with our other son, I was taken aback by the rigid policies I encountered this time. When I called, I was informed that I needed to have all dental and medical insurance information ready. While I understand the importance of having this information, most places I’ve contacted have been accommodating, allowing me to call back if I don’t have everything on hand. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I was told they could not and would not schedule an appointment without every detail, and I felt pressured while searching for our medical insurance information on my phone for 20 minutes, during which time they waited on the line without offering any flexibility. This situation is particularly distressing for us as our family has recently faced significant challenges—two family members were temporarily displaced by separate hurricanes within weeks, and another family member is experiencing wisdom teeth issues and is 2,000 miles away. The front desk staff’s lack of empathy in this context felt disheartening and suggested a priority on insurance numbers over patient care. When I did finally call back to express my frustration, I felt dismissed. I was told that I was "berating" and "yelling" when all I was doing was expressing my disappointment while in tears and using a normal voice volume. I can understand that it might be challenging to hear constructive and truthful feedback when it is not all glowing/positive, but to accuse someone of berating/yelling simply because they are explaining why a policy or procedure is problematic is unnecessary. Given this experience, I will be seeking care for our family member elsewhere. It’s crucial for us to have a medical professional team that demonstrates compassion, kindness, and flexibility, especially in situations as stressful as wisdom teeth removal. I appreciate the positive experience we had previously, as it has shown me how important a supportive environment is for our family.

I was treated very well by Dr. Ackerman, the hygienist, the front desk staff, and the surgery nurse. I needed seven teeth removed to be fit for dentures. I was terrified it would hurt and wouldn't heal quickly. Instead, I felt listened to at the consult, the surgery went flawlessly, and somehow, my mouth healed with little pain in less than 10 days. After all that, I got a refund of hundreds of dollars from this clinic, presumably because they were able to submit claims to my insurer in a manner that saved me money. That's a level of integrity that's hard to find. Just an unbelievably positive experience, and I recommend True North without reservation.

Dr Ackerman and the staff are amazing!! I had 5 teeth removed. I woke up and my new dentures were very comfortable. The next morning my mouth doesn't hurt and the plate is comfortable. They are the only oral surgery office I will go to!!
