My visits to Dr. Leung at Thornhill Family Dental have always been good experiences. The staff are welcoming and efficient, setting a comfortable tone right from the start. Dr. Leung is very professional. He is particularly reassuring during procedures like cleanings, fillings, and X-rays and prioritizes patient's comfort. What I appreciate most is the clear communication throughout my visits. Dr. Leung takes the time to explain the procedures, offering advice on dental care in a way that's easy to understand. I opened up about my fears, including the childhood dental mishap, and Dr. Leung listened attentively, showing genuine empathy. Back in the day, a dentist visit turned sour – my tooth wasn't numb enough, and it felt like they hit a nerve, causing significant pain. That less-than-ideal experience stuck with me, leading to years of neglecting my oral health. To ease my anxiety, Dr. Leung suggested using laughing gas during treatments. It was a simple yet effective solution that turned my dental visits from stressful to surprisingly comfortable. The laughing gas made a significant impact, and I experienced minimal discomfort. But it's not just about the laughing gas; the entire Thornhill Family Dental team contributes to the positive atmosphere. My recent visit to Dr. Ricky Leung’s dental office was wonderful.  I went to the office for a tooth sensitivity issue, and after I explained my concerns, Dr. Leung took the time to conduct a thorough examination and talked me through available treatments.  Rather than immediately recommending a root canal, he suggested trying a filling first to see if the pain would subside.  The procedure was quick, and I was comfortable throughout. The entire staff at the office was also very friendly, and thanks to Dr. Leungs treatment, my issue has gotten a lot better. I highly recommend this place for dental treatment :)

After my previous dentist retired, a co-worker recommended I try Dr. Leung. It had been awhile since my last dental visit (COVID etc). The hygienist I had was very thorough, and friendly and she has been there for more than 10 years. She showed me a better way to floss as I have retaining wires which causes a lot of tartar build up and told me about some neat floss that are meant to get around braces and wires. The cleaning itself was great. I was worried it might be painful due to it being a few years without a cleaning but the whole thing was pretty smooth and painless. I like the water jet thing the hygienist used. During the examination, they found a cavity and I went back for a filling a week later. I hate needles but Dr. Leung used a numbing agent before the freezing agent so I didn't feel a thing and we chatted about video games while the freezing took effect which also helped calm my nerves. He was also good at getting the filling to match my bite. With my previous dentist I had to go back to adjust fillings several times so I was happy it was done right the first time. The receptionist was nice and made booking appointments easy. They are open more days than my previous dentist so it was easy to get a time that worked with my schedule. I'll go back for future cleanings and recommend them.

Dr. Leung and Thornhill Family Dental saved my teeth, I want to write about it. My previous dentist did a filling to me, after that I was having lot of pain whenever I drink something cold. I was told to wait, and the pain should improve. I was still having pain after couple week which I never had before the filling. I heard good thing about Dr. Leung from my friend so I saw him for a second opinion. He did some test and examination. He then explained in detail and showed my the xray. Turn out there were cavity still on the tooth. Not just that, the tooth next to it also had a cavity. He then showed me from the xray where the cavity was, look like the shadow was very close to the bone and very close to the nerve. Even I could see it from the picture. Dr. Leung told me those teeth would be difficult to save, likely would need root canal and sometime couldn't be saved at all. I was very worry. I don't want to lose those teeth, but at the same time I don't want to spend a lot of money try to save those teeth which may or may not work. I expressed my concern to Dr. Leung, especially my financial situation. I told him I rather have those teeth remove. To my surprise Dr. Leung said he don't like to extract teeth when there are still chance of keeping it, he offered me that he can go inside to find out exactly how deep the cavity was, and if those teeth were beyond saving, he won't charge me. I feel grateful that he offered to try saving the teeth. And without the extra charge of course I agreed. The procedure was longer than what I expected, but painless. After a while, Dr. Leung told me that the cavity already reached the bone. A lot of time was too deep to be saved. But he also said since he's already there, he would try putting some special filling deep inside, sometimes it would still heal. He said he treating it as temporary because he didn't want to charge me if those teeth end up need extraction. He asked me to wait couple weeks and see if the pain goes away. The day after I was happy that those teeth were much less painful than before, and it seemed like it's improving day after day. I went back there after a week for Dr. Leung to check. He showed me how to keep those area clean, again no charge. He said it's better to wait longer before the final filling. After another week, I went back there for the actual filling. Those teeth are good since then, no more pain no more food trap. No need root canal, which I may not able to afford. I am pretty sure that if I saw any other dentist, I will not be able to keep those teeth. I am so grateful that dr. Leung saved my teeth. I recommend him to everyone.
