Dr. Shapira has changed my life. I was hesitant to come here, as it's quite expensive and out-of-network, but my only regret is not coming here first. I'm amazed at the difference his treatment has made in my quality of life, and I didn't even realize how much time I spent thinking of my facial pain until I experienced its absence. I've seen specialists at Northwestern, Rush and Diamond Headache Clinic, ranging from neurologists, ophthalmologists, orthopedists, pain clinicians, physical therapists and beyond -- all who eventually gave up and told me it's "anxiety" or "just something that happens with age" ( at 25 years old). Dr Shapira is the only Dr who has offered any meaningful relief or explanation. He is upfront about the commitment and prognosis for each treatment option and not at all pushy. He suffered from terrible facial pain himself and it's clear his only goal is to help others find similar relief.

I had the best doctors appointment of my entire life here. First time that I ever felt like I really got my money's worth from a doctor's appointment. Dr. Shapira really went above and beyond to explain what was causing my jaw pain and what I needed to do to fix it. Unfortunately I had to go through another doctor to get treatment for insurance purposes but I would have been lost if I never came here to begin with. Thank you Dr. Shapira! My DNA appliance has saved my life!

I am so grateful for Think Better Life and Dr. Shapira. I have been suffering from TMJ for 10+ years and have been to countless dentists who all have told me that I am "fine." Dr. Shapira was the first dentist to actually listen to my pain, thoroughly examine me, and talk me through my options. My first meeting with him lasted over an hour! Dr. Shapira is not only a great dentist, he is an incredible human being: kind, compassionate, and sincere. After only a month, I already began to feel relief from my chronic headaches and facial pain. It was a feeling I honestly didn't know was possible. Think Better Life is a warm, caring, and friendly office. Dr. Shapira and his entire staff have are truly competent and hospitable! It's been about three years since I've been working with Dr. Shapira and his staff and I'm just as happy as Day 1! Not only has Dr. Shapira helped me tremendously regarding my facial pain, jaw clicking, chronic headaches, and back and neck pain, he has referred me to at least three other specialists to help improve my overall health. Everyone he refers me to is competent, welcoming, and caring. Anyone or anything Dr. Shapira recommends, I completely trust! Truthfully, going to my appointments with Dr. Shapira is like visiting family. I am so thankful for all his help and HIGHLY recommend him! By the way, I drive almost two hours to see him and it's worth it every time!

I requested an independent consultation from Dr. Shapira and I received what would be better called an educational lecture with demonstrations. The consultation was $300 and 90 minutes long. I expected the consultation to include a review of all my previous test results (he opted to exclude the MRI from his review, for some unknown reason), a specific diagnosis with severity/degree of disease noted, a prognosis, and treatment plan, with all this to be written/documented so that I could take it elsewhere, if needed. Instead, I received a stack of pamphlets with articles he’d written and the costs of the treatment he wanted to provide (tens of thousands of dollars). I was told I could follow up with any questions, but 4 emails went without response until I called the office manager, and then I received an email from Dr. Shapira’s assistant, Kelly, who said she didn’t understand what I was requesting. She said there wasn’t ‘much to say’ about the diagnosis, that they couldn’t provide a prognosis, and that they do not know if all or any of my symptoms would be alleviated by their treatment. I went to Dr. Shapira because he is very knowledgeable and supposedly experienced with treatments, and was very disappointed with the consultation and subsequent response that included recommending treatment without knowing if it would work. I have no documentation from the consultation and they refuse to provide that basic information which has always been provided in writing by any other medical consultation I have received. I would not recommend Dr. Shapira for any services.

Dr. Shapira unlocked my jaw and eliminated 80% of my severe TMJ pain by the end of the first visit. I've been to many doctors and never, before or since, have I been so positively impacted by a doctor. He is kind, funny, and absolutely enthralled with his work. You can tell that he cares deeply about the outcome of each of his patients. Since the first visit I've flown back to Dr. Shapira's office several times. My wife and I agree that it's the best money we've ever spent.
