Tar Heel Periodontics and Implant Dentistry - Raleigh

Dr. Justin Valentine was highly recommended by my family dentist. Over the years, he has taken great care of my complex dental care. It has always been such great comfort to feel relaxed before each procedure (courteous, gentle, minimal pain) at the same time with knowing in advance of an excellent outcome. The staff is also friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. I am definitely a thankful and happy patient!

I recently moved to NC. I was referred to this practice by a general dentist that I visited 2 weeks prior where they took a full set of x-rays. I explained this to the lady at my appointment. She took x-rays anyway, 16 pictures, stating the ones that were taken previously "did not give them the angles they needed". She took these without mentioning there would be an additional out of pocket fee... over $350. I was shown the x-rays and even though I'm no dentist, they didn't look any different from the one's that were done 2 weeks before. How many angles of a persons mouth is there. The doctor was nice, friendly, and explained everything. However, I'm not sure if that was genuine or a salesman's smile. By the time I left, after seeing the 'financial adviser', I owed over $500 for the day and my treatment would be around $3,500. All out of pocket. If you are an average working class person like myself... beware, ask how much everything cost beforehand. Oh... and with the new patient paperwork there was a form for me to sign stating I read and understand the "Notice of Privacy" form. But the NOP form was not a part of the paperwork. When I asked about it, the receptionist asked if I wanted her to print me a copy? Well yeah, if you want me to sign a form saying I read and understand it. That should have been my first clue!

My Dental Hygienist, Hillary, made my visit a pleasure. I have dental implants and I go in once a quarter to get them cleaned and this was the first time I was not hurt. As they are cleaned in my mouth. She is a caring young lady. ? About a year ago the dentist had to cut out a plug of my upper mouth to fill in a portion of my bottom gum. That surgery worked like a charm. They know what they are doing. I highly recommend them.

My moment of panic was met with concern and patience. Dr Stella, assistants Saran and Aylin are absolutely top notch. Had two implants done. No pain during the surgery. Dr. Stella and Saran did a great job. Saran was kind enough to follow up with me the next day to see how I'm doing.

I came to Tar Heel Perio for a second opinion in a gum graft that I needed done. Dr. Stella and Ailyn did such a wonderful job of walking me through the process and outlined expectations appropriately. Dr. Stella explained what needed to be done, how he would we perform the procedure and how the recovery would look. The procedure went well and the team made sure to check up on me and have been invested in my recovery. I will likely need another gum graft later and intend on going back to this team!

Tar Heel changed my life. As a child in Syria, I lost my teeth in a bombing and spent 14 years hiding my smile out of shame. My family couldn’t afford treatment, but Tar Heel made it possible for me they made a plan for me and covered it. Thanks to their kindness, I can finally smile with confidence. I will never forget this day. I’m forever grateful!

Dr. Kretchmer is amazing! He has worked with great patience in a rather difficult implant procedure with me. Kimberly his dental assistance provided expertise and comfort to me during the procedure. Very pleased with my level of care.
