Customer Reviews
My almost-2-year-old fell and chipped her 2 front teeth. Dr. Horgesheimer did an incredibly beautiful and thorough job fixing them - you would never know that they had ever broken! They look exactly like before. He was so kind and sweet with her. The waiting area was so fun and helped her feel comfortable and happy. He was professional and explained everything so well. He also did a tongue tie release for my nephew, and that was amazing as well. Wonderful staff and experience! We are thrilled with the results and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone!
We were recommended this dentist by the dentist my husband and I go to. So glad they told us about this place! My son is always excited to come to the dentist and says he loves it here. They make it really funny for the kids to come - a little playground in the waiting area, TVs in the ceiling for kids to watch while their mouths are open, prizes afterwards, and really nice dentists! We don't have a preference on which dentist sees the kids because we've had a good experience with each one we've met.
The dentists who work here are a team for sure! They understand the kids by the behavior the kid show, and the staff know how to accommodate or work with the kids so they are comfortable. The staff listen and understand parent and child concerns and how to prevent cavities. I love that when our children have cavities, the dentist offers preventive strategies, and as long as I (as the parent) help my child follow thr0ugh with the prevention strategy, their teeth don't need fillings for longer. Instead of fillings on the next visit for neglecting to follow through with preventive care. Good job, and we are always satisfied with the care received.
If your newborn is losing weight, or your toddler’s speech is delayed, I highly encourage you to bring them in to Dr. Horgesheimer. The impact a tongue or lip tie can have on a child's ability to thrive and your mental and emotional health as a parent cannot be understated. Redwood Pediatric Dentistry (RWPD) has the rare expertise necessary to quickly and effectively treat this commonly undiagnosed issue. We live in California and traveled to Utah for Dr. Horgesheimer's expertise, and I plan on bringing all of our future children to RWPD for a tie check, despite the distance. Our tongue tie story is not unusual. I was deeply concerned when newborn C’s weight dwindled from the 20th percentile down to the second. Four med professionals insisted that C would eat when he was hungry and encouraged us to keep breastfeeding on demand. Despite nursing for long periods of time, he was not gaining weight. My instincts told me something was wrong, but each medical provider firmly assured me that I was mistaken, even with the scale showing otherwise. At five months, finally concerned with his weight trajectory, our pediatrician gave the go-ahead for us to start on solids. C’s weight drifted back up to an acceptable range. When C showed signs of a speech delay, I knew that my earlier instincts had been correct, and that we were dealing with something structural. After all of the earlier medical trauma, I was concerned that I wouldn’t be taken seriously. We found a PROMPT trained speech therapist, who insisted we take C to a dentist to be checked for any structural abnormalities. Although we live hundreds of miles away, a family member who knows and trusts Dr. Horgesheimer recommended we visit RWPD. Like most children, our son was anxious about going to the doctor. His eyes lit up when he saw the absolutely magical lobby. C played in the treehouse while I checked us in. We were taken back by the friendly staff, and Dr. Horgesheimer joined us quickly for the evaluation. His bedside manner is nothing short of magical, both for parents and his young patients. I was so nervous about getting our son to open his mouth for the dentist, but I didn’t need to worry in the slightest. He knew every trick in the book to get our son to open up. He listened to my concerns, validated them, and explained why C was unable to make certain sounds and routinely rolled his lower jaw forward. We discussed treatment going forward, and Dr. Horgesheimer highly encouraged us to continue speech therapy post-release. All it took was two minutes with Dr. Horgesheimer for C’s tongue tie to be discovered. Half an hour later, Dr. Horgesheimer released the tie, and we were sent on our merry way. The improvement this procedure has made in my son’s speech and sleep is amazing. C had snored since the day he was born. The first night post-op, I realised he wasn’t snoring anymore. He finally could rest his tongue on the roof of his mouth. We are now six weeks post op and meeting weekly with the speech therapist who evaluated C before and after the procedure. She has remarked many times that she believes C was always trying hard, but that the tongue tie release made an impossible task now well within reach. C’s skillfully performed tongue tie release, paired with effective speech therapy, has facilitated a language explosion with clarity of speech that I once worried would never happen. Thanks to Redwood Pediatric Dentistry, our son now has a full range of motion for his tongue and is caught up to the expected speech timeline for his age group. It can be intimidating to go to yet another meeting with a provider, especially if your concerns have been dismissed by other medical professionals. As a parent, you can rest assured that Dr. Horgesheimer will listen to your instincts and thoughtfully walk you through the best options for your child’s health. His expert care could make all the difference in your child’s life, as he has in C’s. Dr. Horgesheimer has given my son the ability to speak, properly sleep, and eat, and we are forever thankful.
This place is amazing!! My 3 year old would not let anyone touch his teeth! Alexis was AWESOME she was patient and took the time to talk to him! I will definitely be coming back for his next visit!
