This might be a late review but finally decided to make a review because my son was treated very badly. I decided to make an appt for my son to have his 1st check up. My son was complaining of a tooth ache and I was recommend by a friend and that this was the best dentist in all Fort Myers. I believed my friend since, I was new in the area. I made the appt for my son. Super nice over the phone and 1st visit was wonderful. Doctor and staff were wonderful. My son had to get a spacer and I set the appt. Day before my son's appt I got an email confirming day and time of the appt. So no water and no food because he was going to has surgery and he needed to be on an empty stomach. No problem I did as I was instructed. As I am on the way 5 mins away, I called office to let them know I was on my way. I get to the office the I was told that my son's appt was not till 12 pm. I told the office that his appt was at 9am and I confirmed the email they had sent me the day before. I was told that I should have ignore the email because, they had changed my appt and gave my son's appt to someone else. All this with out notifying me. Why would you send an email and expect for the parent to ignore it. My 5 yrs old son had to wait with no food, or water till 12 noon to get his the spacer. The 3rd party orthodontist assistant, that did the procedure came to calm me down, and told me herself that the office was disrespectful and rude. That it was not right that they changed my son's appt and have him so many hours with out water and food. AND on top of all of that, the office manager, had the attitude to call me about an open balance I had to pay when I had no bill. Till today I am still waiting for the bill. This office is mean, rude, racist's and a joke. They think that a tittle office title gives you the right to be cruel to children. Never will I ever recommend anyone to this practice/office. My son has a new dentist and is the sweetest person ever, and that including her entire staff.
I think it's crazy that this doctor has a STRICT RULE that no parents are allowed in the room with their minor children. How are any of you ok with this? What is he hiding? Does he like to be alone with children??? Very strange and very weird. I would never be ok with this and I don't think YOU as a parent should. There are bad people out there, don't let your kid become the victim, there are other dentist places. It's 2024, get a new system. Put up privacy walls so parents can come in. You will never hurt my child or make sure my child is uncomfortable.
My boys had been going to this office for 5 years. We recently made the difficult decision to move to a different pediatric dentist. Dr. Tim Verwest was always great, but the general office staff and customer service here is always a mess. I've been told by other moms similar experiences with the staff as well. They scheduled an appointment for my son to have a tooth pulled and didn't mention anything about seeing an ortho to consult first, until I took off work and my son took off school to make it to the appointment. When we got there, they acted like they were all confused on why the visit was scheduled and then told me I needed to see an ortho. I would've been prepared with an ortho recommendation in hand for this had they informed me 4 months prior when they scheduled the appointment. It was a huge waste of my time, and everyone just acted lost. Very unprofessional. They also tried to charge me for molar sealants when my son didn't even have molars yet. Another example is trying to call them. You will be forwarded to voicemail, unless you are calling about billing questions. To cancel their appointments, I had to select the number that went to billing just to get ahold of someone. Also, I remember getting them to reach out to my dental insurance was a huge hassle last year. They kept requesting me to contact my dental insurance to get them paid, but they were wrong and ended up having to communicate directly to my insurance as requested months prior. The whole ordeal just wasted time. The customer service is only important if it involves them getting paid. They're reasonably priced and the office is fun-themed, but there are other comparable options with better customer service and less confusion.
Our first visit was amazing, fingers crossed our nexts one just as great! We have been to several different dentists in Lee county and until now couldnt find one we LOVED. I research EVERYTHING, especially when it pertains to anything with my children and I will admit after reading the reviews I wanted to cancel the appointment. Thank God I didnt, it was the total opposite of all the negative reviews. We checked in as soon as we walked in the door (no wait). Within 5 minutes of checking in the dental assistant approached us and asked if I wanted to go back with my son (he's 5) or if hes okay going alone. I told her to ask my son what he preferred, he told her he wanted me to come and we were taken to s private room. She cleaned his teeth, took him for x rays (I stayed in the room) and then Dr.Verwest saw my son. He allowed him to sit.on my lap while he did his assessment and his next cleaning was scheduled in the room before we left! I was able to see the "open bay concept" they have with video games, tvs in the ceiling, and open areas with dental chairs and medical tables. Ive never had my son attend an appointment without me but I feel like in the next few appointments I will be comfortable enough to let him go alone to the open room with the rest of the kids and do his cleanings. The office was immaculate, designed specifically for kids, and every person I came into contact with from the front desk to the dental assistant to the dentist himself we're so kind and happy to be doing their job! If you're looking for a new dentist I highly recommend this one
I called to schedule an appointment for tooth extraction 2 weeks after a referral was sent from the orthodontist’s office. The office staff said that they didn’t receive the referral and made me to call the orthodontist’s office again. They confirmed the referral when I made my second call to let them know that the referral was sent. After multiple calls related to insurance and rescheduling the appointment for tooth extraction, when I took my son to the dentist, the staff at the office said the appointment was for dental cleaning. Then they said even if it wasn’t for cleaning, they don’t extract the permanent teeth. Extremely poor communication and patient care. Never had such an extremely bad healthcare experience.
Pablo is amazing! He’s the only dental tech in eight years that’s been able to get my 10-year old son to be seen by the dentist by himself in the big room. He’s also very kind and considerate to my younger son and makes him feel comfortable with his dental care. If I could I would request him for all of my two son’s appointments.
Everything was great today for my daughters cleaning, but it would be better to have better wait times, since we did wait a little longer. My daughters felt very comfortable with Gina.
