Customer Reviews
The kind staff here worked around me having to reschedule a few times and they were nothing but kind and understanding to me! The Dr was able to remove my silver fillings quick and easy! I did not have any pain after my fillings like I have had in the past at other places. I had the best experience here and it even helped improve my fertility! Highly recommend to everyone!
I came in for my first appointment and because I am pregnant I said I didn’t want to do the x-rays this time but would do it after I had the baby. Because of this, the dentist refused to see me. I asked if I could just get a cleaning, but he wouldn’t do it. I’ve declined/delayed x-rays at another holistic dentist and regular dentist with no problem. I was very surprised by this response coming from a holistic dentist. Shouldn’t it be up to the patient to make these decisions? Staff were friendly.
I had high hopes for my appointment after waiting a long time to see a specialist here. While the staff was phenomenal and it's noteworthy that they don't have a dental hygienist on staff, my overall experience was quite disappointing. Upon arrival, I waited a significant amount of time before being greeted and starting paperwork. When I shared that I usually dislike dentist visits due to previous experiences, the dentist interrupted me and chastised me for my comment, which I found harsh and condescending. I was hoping for a more holistic approach, but the dentist continued to focus on cosmetic issues despite my preference for functional and longevity-focused care. The tone throughout the visit was unprofessional and dismissive. He repeatedly emphasized cosmetic treatments that I did not find necessary. Furthermore, I was quoted around $200 for my first appointment but was charged over $400. This discrepancy is troubling, especially since I only received a preventative cleaning and assessment, conducted by a dental assistant rather than a hygienist, which is uncommon. Additionally, the front desk employee breached HIPAA confidentiality on two occasions in my presence, once by confirming another patient's status and handing me their business card, and again by discussing other patients' COVID-19 vaccine experiences with identifying details. As a healthcare professional, I understand the importance of the practitioner-patient dynamic, which should be handled with care and respect. Unfortunately, this experience was far from it. The dentist emphasized the importance of trust in the dentist-patient relationship, yet my experience here severely lacked that trust. I do not recommend this practice to anyone seeking a holistic dentist and will not be returning. Edit: now reading further reviews on this dentist. His reply to Rachel Burch over Google reviews includes detailed information about her daughter's dental Care that should be private conversation between dentist and patient. Just because he is irritated that he received a one-star review does not mean that he can retaliate with personal information on the internet. This is another hipaa violation. Even if he was the most phenomenal dentist, the lack of trust regarding patient confidentiality In my opinion should prevent him from practicing legally.
Stay far away from this dental office! After paying for expensive cleanings here, it was discovered that two of my daughters had cavities that needed filled. This dentist did such a poor job that he actually damaged their teeth much more than the cavities ever had. The filling had bubbles, spilled up and over their teeth, and filled the cracks between their molars making it impossible to floss. This was painful for them and when I inquired about why they still had pain, I was told I would need to pay for another cleaning for him to look at the fillings and assess the cause of pain. We weren't aware of the specifics of his shoddy workmanship until we sought care from another local dentist because their pain and inability to floss was a red flag to not return to this office. The x-rays at the new office revealed what he had done to my daughters' teeth. It will take months of procedures to correct the issue. Seven extractions and new replacement fillings are needed to fix the problems created by Dr. Mullens. We have called Holistic Dental to ask for a refund and even sent them the X-rays as proof but they have refused to refund us the money we spent to have the cavities "filled" by Dr. Mullens. I've had tremendous mom guilt about subjecting my daughters to Dr. Mullens "care", he damaged their permanent adult teeth and has been the cause of much pain for them.
Dr. Mullens is the best. He takes time to listen and give options. He truly cares about his patients.
I don't understand the few negative reviews, so I had to add my 5 stars to the ratio. We are always treated with kindness and respect. They even got my adult son in with an emergency appointment when he had an injury to his mouth. I am autistic and have a very difficult time at the dentist. This office is quiet and has peaceful music playing quietly at the front. The last natural dentist I tried was a very busy office and had hip-hop music playing so loudly I could hardly hear the dentist and the hygienist. Dr Mullen and his staff are super friendly and don't mind me asking for clarification or saying I don't understand. I recommend to anyone that asks.
