Little Harpeth Children's Dentistry: Priya Purohit, DMD, MSD

We absolutely love Dr. Purohit and the amazing staff at Little Harpeth Children’s Dentistry. My toddler feels so comfortable with this group of women and loves showing off her sweet smile when we visit. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for pediatric dental care.

The staff are friendly and the office is clean. However, I was disappointed by the way they handled our situation. Our 2 year old came in for X-rays and a cleaning, and instead we came out with a $300 bill for x-rays, no cleaning, and an appointment scheduled for $2,700 which included anesthesia and a filling for our son's cavity. Walking away from the appointment I felt disoriented because everything happened so fast. They told us we had plenty of time to think about moving forward, but they went ahead and scheduled the $2,700 appointment saying we would need to call to cancel if we decided not to move forward. They also recommended we not do the cleaning the day we were there so they could just do it while he was under anesthesia during his filling. The whole experience felt like we were 'kindly' being pressured. The options presented to us were to risk permanent damage to our son's teeth or put him under anesthesia to fix the cavity (not to mention the costs). My gut instinct was to get a second opinion, which we did two months later. The second dentist that we went to did the cleaning first and then x-rays. By analyzing his behavior during the cleaning, the dental hygienist and dentist said our son was so good, they would be confident they could administer a filling without anesthesia... if we wanted to. However, they gave us a few other options including, silver diamine fluoride, which to us, was the most logical and noninvasive choice for our young child. We chose the silver diamine fluoride which was so easy and took under 2 minutes. I don't understand why Little Harpeth Children's Dentistry did not present us with the same options nor did they bother to take into account our son's behavior (which they said he was incredible during the X-rays, but maybe they say that to all the kids). I really wanted to like this place but after experiencing another dental office, I look back at our experience at Little Harpeth in disappointment. Update to response from Little Harpeth: - We received 1 follow up phone call from the Anesthesia office confirming his appointment which we chose to cancel. We do not recall having any follow up calls directly from Little Harpeth. The only follow up interactions we had was us calling to cancel. - Our son has absolutely no pain due to his cavity. - Both my husband and I do not recall ANY option given to us for SDF. If it was an option, we would have gone for this choice, as we did with the other dental office. His cavity is minor and small enough on the front teeth that you only see black staining if you pull his lip up. You cannot see it otherwise, even when he is smiling. - Given my experience with your office I didn't feel comfortable going to you with our concerns. I decided to go with a review instead so that I could reach out to other parents who may be going through a similar experience with your office. I am further disappointed in your response to our review as your claims about the condition of our child's teeth and the options given to us are not in line with our experience. I am updating my review from 2 stars to 1 star.

We had a wonderful experience at Little Harpeth’s! The staff was friendly, and the waiting area was bright and inviting. Dr. Priya was amazing—patiently explained everything to my child, making her feel at ease. Highly recommend this pediatric dental office!

We was running late due to horrendous traffic the morning of our appointment. I called them and informed them of the issues we were experiencing. They were super helpful and made sure to get us in later that morning. Ny son has celiac disease and i wanted to find a practice that truly cares about his disease and wants what is best for him. The staff was absolutely amazing in their abilities to get my son to do amazing at his very first dental appointment. We will be going here until my son can no longer see the dentist. She is an A plus in our book and we truly love her and all of the staff. They were also very good at answering any questions or concerns that we had during our visit. Thank you little Harpeth for making my son’s first appointment pleasant. I don't think my son will ever be afraid of the dentist now since y’all made him feel so loved and cared for.

He have been so happy with Dr. Purohit! She has amazing bedside manner and made my daughters feel so comfortable seeing the dentist! Staff are always nice and kind!

We have been going to Little Harpeth for a few years, and it has always felt a bit off to me. My kids do not have any issues, and some dental hygienists are more patient with my kids than others. My issue is with how when they try to contact you they do it so aggressively it's a bit overwhelming. The month leading up to a visit I am bombarded with texts and emails constantly reminding me of the upcoming appointment. After appointments I will receive multiple email's asking for a google review. We had an outstanding balance of $20 for a missed insurance claim, which is not a big deal, but I received multiple phone calls about it. When I was unable to answer they immediately sent a text message and an email. Over $20. It felt desperate and strange. Never have I been to any medical establishment where any outstanding balance was not mailed or addressed at the next appointment. After paying the balance I have cancelled all future appointments and will be taking my children somewhere else.
