I always have a great experience at Leading Edge Perio. The front desk staff, the dental assistants, and the doctors are all very caring and professional. They performed a gum graft that went very well and most recently I had tooth pain near an implant, and they squeezed me in right away. Thank you, Leading Edge team, for all you do.
I had a longer review but I exceeded the character limit so I had to edit. I wish I could have added the full one. Let’s start with the good (or should I say great?)! Dr. Kathleen Mascardo! Dr. Mascardo is absolutely wonderful! I had to have gum grafting surgery on the top and bottom. I went for my consultation and was immediately impressed by her knowledge and her ability to explain things without confusing jargon. These were two separate procedures performed about a month apart. She has THE BEST bedside manor for this patient that suffers from extreme anxiety. She made sure that I was comfortable and talked me through everything and I felt my anxiety go away immediately. She is a top-notch caring doctor, and this is demonstrated by her ability to be so compassionate and invested in her patient. She sends text messages to check in to see how you’re feeling throughout healing and lets you know that you can text her anytime with questions or concerns. I did have to text her a couple of times for minor concerns that I had, and she quickly got back to me and never made me feel like I was bothering her at all. She also asked me to check back in with her to let her know how I was doing. This to me is professionalism and a great doctor/patient relationship at it’s best! She was amazing and I would highly (without reservation) recommend her to anyone needing services that she provides. Now with the bad! This stings a bit because it takes away from the practice and my star rating. The front desk! Beth (I think she’s a manager?) is just a MISERABLE person to deal with. She seems to be in the wrong profession for sure. She does act like you’re bothering her and acts like a debt collector. I had a total of $5,856.42 worth of periodontal care and her concern was to get the money and get it quickly. Lots of sighing when I asked questions, and she is very unprofessional. Today I had my follow up. Beth and Tara were at the front desk and Beth didn’t even glance my way and greet me. Tara was on the phone and did as soon as the call wrapped up. She is very pleasant to deal with. I had my stiches removed by Dr. Mascardo and needed a 4 week follow up appointment and another appointment made as well. Dr. Mascardo walked me up front to Beth and asked her to make me 2 appointments. There weren’t any patients and there was no one in the waiting room. Beth asked Dr. Mascardo to have one of her assistants make the appointments, so I had to go back into the treatment area and have Dr. Mascardo’s assistant schedule my appointment. I have no idea why they couldn’t make the appointments and Beth’s tone and reaction to Dr. Mascardo was bothersome to me. She acted like she was beneath her.
Dr. Shapiro is an amazing Oral Surgeon. I have had approximately six implants, two recently on my front teeth. He knows I have a fear of Dental work and does everything he possibly can to help me to stay calm. His work has been superb as well as his calming and professionalism. I highly recommend him!
Dr. Shapiro and his staff are a wonderful group of people if you're looking for services he provides. He is very skilled, easy to talk to and helped put my mind at ease with a recent procedure that went perfectly. I know a lot of people don't really rank dental work high on their list of a great time, but Dr. Shapiro made my series of appointments and procedures go as smoothly and painlessly as possible.
Dr. Shapiro is great, I have no complaints about his work. What I do have a complaint about is my appointment being 30 minutes later than scheduled. If I showed up 30 minutes late, my appointment would be cancelled and I would be charged a no-show fee for wasting their time. When they are late, you have no recourse except bad reviews. I missed a work meeting b/c of this, and had to change my kid's daycare plans to be able to make it to my scheduled appointment time. Your time is not more valuable than mine even though you seem to think it is. This is the 2nd time this has happened at this office. Why bother scheduling if you can't stick to it?
