Last night I went to bed worried and stressed about how this morning would go. My little love got his first cavity at 6, despite our best efforts and I was heartbroken and incredibly guilty. He kept asking me questions about how it would go and I had no idea how to respond as I have yet to have one myself. This is new territory for me too. All I could do was assure him that I would be with him and that they'd use a gas to help relax him. I like to give him realistic expectations, but couldn't promise it wouldn't hurt. I walked in a nervous wreck, but was greeted with kind smiles from Dr. Joy Trigo herself and her staff. They had us check in and brought us back almost immediately. Julie, was incredibly sweet, patient and kind with my little man. She explained everything to him and gave him a heads up on what to expect with each tool they would use while he was given oxygen. He was very calm with her excellent bedside manners and calm demeanor. She explained that next they'd give him a gas to breath that would help him relax. She let him know what others felt while they had the gas and reassured him that he was safe. Together Julie and Dr. Joy worked seamlessly. They make an incredible team together. Not only did they keep my little love at peace, they put my worries to rest. I was able to hold his hand throughout the procedure and not once did he cringe or squeeze my hand which was such a relief. Dr. Joy Trigo has a heart of gold, is so sweet and empathetic and uses her own life experiences to make her the BEST pediatric dentist I have ever had the pleasure to know. When they finished both him and his sister were offered an otter pop and each were given a quarter to pick a prize from the machines. Unfortunately, the machine my little love picked ate the quarter but forgot to provide a prize. I asked if it would be OK if he had another (since I didn't have any cash with me) and they kindly did. ?I highly recommend Dr. Joy Trigo!!!? Thank you for making such an uncertain and scary time so pleasant and smooth!? May God bless you always!?

Awesome dentist!! My daughter has been a patient for 11 years and she loves her. She always asks my daughter about her day and always ask me if I have any concerns about my daughters teeth and she's more than happy to answer any of my questions. Her staff is very professional and friendly, they always welcome you with a smile. I totally recommend Dr. Joy Tucker Trigo.

My kids have been going to Dr. Joy for years and we have been so happy. She has always been attentive to my kids and when they were very young, I went back with them. I was pleased with the way she treated my kids and explained things to all of us. Her staff is very professional and always courteous and respectful of our time. My daughter had some health issues and Dr. Joy was always very aware of her needs. My boys stayed with her till their feet touched the floor but we didn’t want to leave. I have one still with her and he has had a great experience. I would recommend Dr. Trigo.

Dr. Joy Trigo lives up to her name. She is so kind, patient and a joy! We went to our regular cleaning visit today and our youngest (who is usually adventurous, brave and fearless) was afraid to have her teeth cleaned. Our daughter had been asking about going to the dentist the entire week before... until it was her turn. Her older brother (who is usually more reserved and tends to need a bit convincing to try new things) went first and got his teeth cleaned like a champ! Made us super proud and caught me off guard. Woo hoo! However, she was up next. The suggestion of getting her first x-rays may have altered our little Love's expectations for her cleaning. Unbeknownst to me, she went from being excited to ask for a new pink toothbrush and prize at the end to not getting off of my lap and crying! I was so relieved by Dr. Joy Trigo's calm demeanor and excellent bedside manners as she didn't waiver. I was beginning to lose my patience as my daughter sounded like a broken record, "me not ready! Me not ready!" with the pass phrase I gave her about the xray. "We'll wait till next visit when you're ready..." (Don't you just regret when something you say is used against you?)Gr... Any way, in the end Dr. Joy Trego let us know it was up to us how we handled the situation. We attempted wording options to give our little love power and choices that gave us the end result we were hoping for. (Leaving with both kiddos' teeth cleaned.) We asked if she preferred getting her teeth cleaned on Mommy's lap or the blue bed. Next our little firecracker asked if I could brush her teeth instead, which I did; then Dr. Joy's patience and kindness won our daughter over and she allowed for her to finish the cleaning. Thank God! Thank you sooo much for coming in today on your birthday and spreading so much joy!!! May God bless you always! Ps. Our little ones came out like bandits with their prizes, tooth brushes and gum!

Dental assistants are not friendly and don’t smile. Dr Trigo is friendly towards parents but didn’t really try talking to my child. No one really interacted with the patient aside from mandatory stuff like giving instruction (I would not describe as kid-friendly). Way too many unnecessary awkward moments. First visit - I came with 3 kids in tow (2 toddlers and 1 infant). The dental assistant ignored my child trying to talk to her. Dr Trigo rudely asked “do I even care?” because I did not maintain eye contact while holding a crying infant while she was trying to upsell me toothpaste (you can easily buy some without sugar, dye, etc at Walmart, Mountain View Co-op, and countless other places). When leaving they gave a balloon to the toddler who had the appt, I would rather they have not given him anything if they can’t afford to give his sibling a $0.50 balloon as well. This led to lots of crying that could have been avoided. At this office, they give kids only a toothbrush likely because they want you to buy the rest from them. Other places provide sample sized tooth paste and floss as well (normally would not be a big deal, but it is considering they sell toothpaste to patients). Second visit - Decided to give the office a second chance because my son’s cleft surgeon works with this office and I thought maybe everyone had a bad day or something the first visit. This visit was me and 2 toddlers. While in the waiting room, a dental assistant asked a parent of a maybe 6 year old multiple times if they would consent to the child going alone. They looked obviously uncomfortable but eventually gave in after being asked repeatedly; then the child was scared so they ended up going with anyways. That practice definitely rubs me wrong, this is the only office I’ve seen do this (I’m comparing multiple in NM and CA that I’ve taken my children or younger siblings too). The dental assistant also wanted to see if my 3 year old would go alone for the X-ray portion. After I said no, she said that she “could let me go.” At this visit, my kids are older so more verbal. Unprompted the sibling asked Dr Trigo if she could also have a quarter for the prize machine at the end of the visit. She responded by telling my she isn’t her patient then asked my daughter if her dentist gives her prizes. Yes. So then she asked if her dentist gives her brother a prize when she goes too. Yes. After an awkward moment of silence, she gave a quarter to the sibling while making a remark. I have never asked and at other places this isn’t a big deal. Without question, at Dr Andrews in Deming and Dr Conniff/Gromley in Las Cruces both give siblings toothbrushes and prizes just to be nice. They also give babies-in-tow stickers just for fun despite them being too young to get upset or jealous. Spoke to the surgeon and cleft team, they also work with Dr Conniff & Gormley (whose office and staff I love) so definitely will not be coming back here.
