John A. Deakins DDS Introduce
Welcome to John A. Deakins DDS, located in Liberty, Missouri. As part of the Theme Park Directory, we are providing information about this dental practice. It's important to note that patient experiences vary significantly, with both positive and negative feedback regarding treatment approaches and post-treatment complications.
Some patients have reported negative experiences, particularly concerning perceived unnecessary procedures and post-treatment complications. One patient shared, "Strange there are no recent reviews. All I can say is RUN! A couple of years ago Dr. Deakins got a new machine to make crowns in the office, conveniently enough, shortly after getting it he told both my husband and I that we needed crowns. We both also heard him tell other patients that they needed crowns. I had not gone to him since then but recently decided to give him another chance and the experience was awful! I went in for a teeth cleaning in September and was told that I had 3 very small cavities that Dr. Deakins said were “so small I could wait 6 months to take care of them and not have any issues”. I decided not to wait and scheduled an appointment for October 8th to get 2 fillings on the top in the back. When I arrived for my appointment I also made a 2nd request for Dr. Deakins to remove filling bonding I have on a front tooth to build it up as it is under-sized but is now pushing my front tooth back and Dr. Deakins said he would remove the bonding. I previously made the same request when I got my teeth cleaned but all Dr. Deakins did was try to talk me into Invisalign, teeth whitening, and other cosmetic procedures that my insurance would not pay for and I declined. Things seemed to be ok during the fillings, but when Dr. Deakins finished and quickly left the room, his assistant asked if I wanted to have the front tooth fixed at my next appointment! I was so numb I did not even know he hadn’t done it as he said he would! When I got home the big issues started: 1. I found that Dr. Deakins had left a huge bruise on my lower cheek near my chin. I can only guess he was leaning on that area as the work I had done was on top teeth and I got no shots in the area of the bruise. The entire left side of my face was numb during the procedure, so I could not feel where he was putting pressure. 2. The entire left side of my face was numb for over 8 hours after getting the fillings. 3. My cheek is still swollen and bruised a week later. 4. The teeth in the area where the fillings were done are now black. 5. The “very small” cavities I had were causing no pain at all but I have been in constant pain since getting the fillings and am now consulting another dentist to get the teeth fixed correctly. Dr . Deakins is more interested in selling unnecessary procedures than taking care of his patients and causes more issues than he fixes. There are other dentists, don’t go to him!" This review highlights serious concerns about unnecessary procedures, post-treatment complications, and perceived lack of attention to patient needs.
However, other patients have reported positive experiences regarding Dr. Deakins' professionalism and patient care. One patient shared, "I am so glad that one day I found Dr. Deakins. He is very polite, caring and veeery patient! I was very scared during my wisdom teeth removal, but it was the easiest procedure I have had in my life, because of doctor’s professionalism." This underscores the polite, caring, and patient nature of Dr. Deakins, particularly during procedures like wisdom teeth removal.
It is crucial to consider these mixed reviews when evaluating John A. Deakins DDS. While some patients have had positive experiences with Dr. Deakins' professionalism, the allegations of unnecessary procedures and post-treatment complications are serious concerns.
Key concerns raised:
- Negative experiences: Perceived unnecessary crowns, pushing cosmetic procedures, failure to complete requested procedures, post-treatment complications (bruising, swelling, prolonged numbness, black teeth, constant pain).
- Positive experiences: Polite, caring, and patient dentist, professional during procedures.
- Varied experiences: Patient experiences vary significantly, and potential patients should carefully weigh the risks.
Given the mixed reviews and serious allegations, it is strongly recommended that potential patients carefully consider their options and conduct thorough research before making a decision.
