Hurley Family Dentistry Reviews
Amazing staff! Very friendly and welcoming! They are super accommodating and always want to make their patients happy. I called with a slight chip on my tooth yesterday and they scheduled me immediately and were so helpful to get it fixed! Reception is wonderful as well!Thank you Hurley Dentistry!
Jul 02, 2024 · Rachel HartmanHighly recommend. As someone who has problem teeth, the Hurleys (especially Emily, who I mainly see) and their staff are very kind, yet firm, about my teeth. They understand how expensive dentistry can be and don’t make you feel bad if you can’t afford it all in one go. She does a great job and doesn't try to do unnecessary procedures.
Dec 24, 2023 · Emily CarterIt’s disconcerting when the dentist you have trusted and relied on for years retires. My hygienist at Hurley Family Dentistry was very kind and had a gentle touch. Dr. Hurley was friendly, thorough and very conservative which I personally appreciate. I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. It was a great first visit!
Feb 28, 2020 · Suzanne WeberI have great dental hygiene, and my old dentist never had anything bad to say about my teeth. I had one appointment at this place, and was told that I had 6 cavities and 2 they were watching. I brush my teeth twice a day. It is almost impossible for me to have that many cavities. Not to mention my teeth are amazing and feel great. Not only that but the hygienist cut my mouth multiple times during the cleaning. I was in pain for days.
Nov 02, 2022 · Amelie VogtAfter seeing many positive reviews, I went in for a routine cleaning after only a year away from the dentist and fairly good dental hygiene practices. After my experiences, which are summarized below, you could not pay me to go back here. The cleaning was much more aggressive than anything I had ever experienced and resulted in me having to take NSAIDs to fall asleep that night due to the residual pain. The cleaning also allegedly uncovered 8 or 9 cavities (my previous dentist only had a watch on one tooth).A few weeks later, I went in for my right-side cavities to be filled, and everything went fine. The next week, I went in for my left side. Only halfway through the procedure when I questioned why my eye was going numb was I informed that instead of a typical Novocaine injection, as was done the previous week (for even more cavities and cavities on the top and bottom vs. just on the top), a nerve block was performed. The next day I woke up with an extremely swollen and bruised cheek (even more swollen than after I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed). This led to acute pain in my cheek and mouth.Dr. Hurley told me to come in to make sure everything was okay. He informed me then that he must have injected a vein by accident and that this only really happened to him once a year, and typically only on elderly patients (I am in my 30s). He also informed me he would contact his endodontist friend to get his opinion on the matter. Knowing that I was leaving for a vacation out of the country the next week, Dr. Hurley called me the next couple of days to make sure everything was okay and also put me on an antibiotic round. It took over a week for the bruising and swelling to subside and for the pain to return to a normal level. Once-in-a-lifetime vacation photos were ruined.Weeks later, I received a bill for about $100--the unpaid portion from insurance (I had already paid approximately $350 out of pocket at this point). Only after calling the office to once again emphasize how wrong things went for me and that I really didn't feel like I should need to pay this bill, Dr. Hurley, through the receptionist, advised me that my situation was not abnormal (again after previously telling me that this only happens once in a year in typically elderly patients and being concerned enough to seek advice from another specialist), and while it was my decision whether to pay the bill, if I did not pay it, I could not return as a patient. Listen, I was not going to return anyway after the aggressive cleaning, lack of informed consent about the nerve block, and complications I experienced, but the double-talk about whether this is a typical experience and the push-back I received about comping a fairly meager bill tells me all I need to know about this practice. This is very poor patient management.
