Dr. Yu and his team did a great job! I just had my annual check-up with my regular dentist who told me that I had a tooth that likely needed to be extracted next to another tooth that needed a root canal. Dr. Yu told me to come in to take a look so he could confirm. The receptionist was extremely friendly and answered all of my questions. They were punctual with the appointment time. After taking x-rays, Dr. Yu confirmed that I only had one problematic tooth that already had a root canal. We could either try to redo the root canal to save my tooth or extract it. Dr. Yu provided details with each option to help me make my best decision and was extremely transparent with the pros and cons of each, as well as what could potentially go wrong. After reviewing my options with him, I decided to try and save my tooth with a redo of my root canal. I've had a lot of dental work done in my day and the novocain process is my least favorite - I barely felt it when Dr. Yu did it! He effectively numbed the area around my tooth. He was constantly check in to make sure I was comfortable and worked swiftly and cleanly. My tooth was only sore for a little bit - he followed up the next day to make sure everything was OK. The office was extremely clean and sanitary. Highly recommend for your root canals!
I was dreading my first root canal. It sounds scary… but I tell you… Dr Yu did it so well. Aside from the sound of the drilling and the initial numbing needle after the pre numbing … there were a few pinch. I fell asleep.? Dr Yu is amazing, informative and gentle and thorough.
Dr. John Yu did amazing job on root canal. Didn't feel any pain at all except my jaw. Because I had to keep my mouth open all the way. Other than that, he did good job. I can tell he really enjoy fixing the tooth. Highly recommend him. If I need to get my tooth fix, I would not be afraid to go see him or try avoid going there. That's how much I feel comfortable with him and his staff. Thumbs up to Dr. John Yu and his team!
Dr. John Yu and his staff are so incredibly friendly and professional. I had a terrible tooth ache and needed a root canal fast, and they got me in to see him super fast. Dr. Yu was fantastic! He explained everything and put me at ease. He is a very skilled endodontist. I experienced very little pain during the procedure and little to no pain after. I was very happy! He was also readily available for questions after I left. I highly recommend him!
I came to Dr. Yu after reading such glowing reviews on yelp. However, unfortunately my experience with Dr. Yu was terrible - the root canal treatment he performed on me was not successful and after I pointed that out, he was rude and refused to admit that the treatment was unsuccessful. Here's a detailed recounting of my experience: A troubling skin lesion on the right side of my nostril led me to consult an oral surgeon. It was then determined that an infection in tooth #6 was the culprit, necessitating a root canal treatment. With an assortment of positive reviews leading me to Dr. Yu, I had the procedure on January 10th. Initially, my experience with Dr. Yu was indeed reassuring. Post-procedure, he conveyed to me that all had gone well and assured me the lesion would gradually fade. The aftermath of the treatment saw some promising signs as the swelling reduced considerably, and there was less evidence of blood and pus. However, this reprieve was short-lived as the lesion made an unwelcome return, the tell-tale signs of increased blood and pus making it evident. I reached out to Dr. Yu to discuss these developments. At this stage, he remained steadfast that the root canal was successful and suggested the lesion was an unrelated issue. His proposal was to wait another month, hoping the lesion would self-resolve. Alternatively, he offered to surgically remove it at an additional cost. His response sowed seeds of confusion, considering his initial diagnosis and assurance of successful treatment. Deciding to tread carefully, I sought a second opinion from our oral surgeon who, after a biopsy, confirmed that the root cause was indeed the inflammation in tooth #6. This realization pointed to an unsuccessful root canal treatment. My options were then to redo the root canal or extract the tooth, which had become problematic. To avoid further disappointment, I opted for extraction. Upon informing Dr. Yu's office about the biopsy results and the persisting lesion due to the unsuccessful root canal treatment, Dr. Yu denied any responsibility and refused to acknowledge the failure of the operation and rudely hung up on me. Notably, within ten days post-extraction, the lesion completely vanished. What I wish to stress upon is not the unsuccessful procedure itself, as I appreciate that medical treatments can sometimes not yield the desired results. My disappointment stems from Dr. Yu's refusal to acknowledge the failure of the operation, despite the overwhelming evidence and a corroborating opinion from another oral surgeon. His reluctance to engage in a constructive conversation was quite disheartening. I share my experience in the hope that it will guide others in their choice of endodontics. In my case, the physical manifestation of the lesion was an evident indicator of the treatment's success or failure. However, for other patients, a failed root canal might go unnoticed for a prolonged period, allowing the infection to linger, which could prove harmful. I sincerely hope my journey will be of assistance to others in their quest to find a skillful, honest, and accountable dental professional for root canal treatments.
