Dentologie - Clark & Diversey

I just left my appointment and am still in shock. I work in a school and made this appointment for a teeth cleaning on my day off. The hygienist was nice and I know she tried her best but the experience was awful. First she mispronounced all of my medications which was a bit concerning. After my scans she said I had such bad inflammation I’d need to come back for another “deep cleaning” a different day. I told her I was aware of my gums but I just wanted a deep cleaning. She said I’d need to sign a refusal form and her demeanor got noticeably cooler. The gum measurement was so painful she had to put numbing gel on my teeth (which I’ve never needed in the past). All of that would have been fine if not for the remainder of the appointment. Right before the cleaning I was told I had to go to the front desk because my insurance was inactive. Whoever handles insurance was sitting on her laptop in the lobby, I would’ve appreciated the conversation take place in a private setting or my room (especially since a laptop isn’t stationary). She informed me that sometimes my insurance company says inactive when it isn’t and since I didn’t submit the insurance until right before the appointment it was essentially my fault. I’ve given my insurance card to number one doctors at the time of the appointment countless times and its never been an issue. Her attitude was beyond accusatory. I told her I was 45 minutes into my appointment and my insurance had never been an issue before. I asked what I was supposed to do and she said go wait in the room until she contacted insurance. I asked how long that usually takes and she said a few hours. I responded that I couldn’t sit there for a few hours to which she responded “well I wouldn’t expect you to”. She glared me down in silence until I said I’d just leave. So now I’m walking home with a numb mouth feeling confused, frustrated, and like I wasted a day off for nothing. In summary: If you’re looking for good costumer service and professionalism this isn’t it.

Great experience! I haven’t been to the dentist in… ten years 💀 So I was nervous about bad results or judgement. But from beginning to end the communication was great! The pain was minimal and the dentist and assistant were so sweet! Thank you for making a scary time much better!

My experience with a basic cleaning/exam: started out alright, took X-rays, did a scan, did some poking around. Dentist came in to examine my teeth, looked at each, and began rattling off a laundry list of things that I needed done. The end verdict from the dentist was that I needed 4 crowns, ALL of my fillings replaced, and had a couple cavities (🚩🚩🚩🚩). Also, said I needed some “deep cleaning” and some sort of specialized descaling. Previous dental exams at an independent dentist said my teeth looked good with occasional work done. They would not do a normal cleaning. When I met with the receptionist to go over the treatment plan, costs, etc they told me a shorter list of procedures. At that point I was confused considering what the actual dentist talked to me about….there was no explanation for the discrepancy. So anyway, the plan was for the cleanings, one crown, and four fillings….over $5000 in work…. Plus the other 3 crowns and multiple filling replacements. Well I wanted to prioritize the crown since it was legit, and basically was told they wouldn’t perform any work until I had the cleanings done. At this point I felt like they were extorting me for the cleaning costs…if I wanted my tooth fixed. Keep in mind the dentist said the cleaning could be put off to a later date to get the other work done if that made sense financially. So…in the end, I had an exam that I feel was inconclusive and false and they refused to clean my teeth at all unless I paid $500 for the deep cleaning. Anywhere else I have gone would have still done a basic cleaning and then scheduled for more extensive procedures. I regret giving them a try…and I don’t think they are honest and clearly no one is on the same page about anything. I’ll stick to an independent dentist for now on…not a money hungry chain. At least everyone there was nice and they had Schitts Creek playing on the TV in the exam room. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Update: and they lied about reaching out to me in their reply to my review. Probably because they know they were caught scamming someone. What a terrible company.

I tried out dentologie at both lincoln park/lakeview locations for cleanings and x-rays and i don’t think i will be returning. i feel like all the workers are very new out of school without too much experience. compared to other dentists ive had, i feel like they were unnecessarily rough and took longer than they should for a simple cleaning. i have always had jaw popping but since coming here my jaw problems have gotten so much worse. i was told it was due to misalignment in my teeth but i know it is because i have hereditary TMJ and not due to misalignment. they told me then to get botox in my masseters but that dentologie doesnt do injections so i would have to go to a med spa. on top of that i never really have great interactions with the staff. my first cleaning, the dental instrument broke and spilled water all over me. they had to retake my x-rays multiple times because they used equipment that didn’t fit in my smaller mouth. every time i leave in pain. i’ve never had such a terrible dentist experiences until i started coming to dentologie.

Trash! They literally sent me multiple confirmations and then they cancel the day before because they overbooked- how does a dentist have a scheduling conflict! What!? I wish I was kidding but please see the photo proof. This CHAIN is awful. I wish i could say I had issues at just this location but this is my second location because they also screwed me over at the Southport location too. I would never recommend coming here
