David Schimmel, DMD, MAGD

I have been a patient of Dr. Schimmel's practice for around 30 years . I have stayed with his practice, even when due to numerous insurance changes, I could have gone to another provider who was "In Network" and saved some money. For me, it was an easy decision. I have never had a less than excellent experience/procedure there. I have never had an interaction with anyone there that was less than patient, kind, caring and totally professionally competent. Dr. Schimmel and his wife, Joanne, are wonderful folks as is Lisa, their indispensable longtime patient coordinator. (Thanks for all the appointment reminders and dealing with the insurance headaches over the years Lisa!) The hygienists I have had over the years ALL have been top notch. ALWAYS friendly, gentle, caring, patient and proficient. I could go on. but it's all good. Where else could you find such a record of satisfaction by a patient over a 30 year period? During my last visit, I had a conversation with and was examined by Dr. Emerson, who will be gradually taking over the practice as Dr. Schimmel eases into a well earned retirement. Dr. Emerson impressed me greatly as a friendly, fun-loving and caring professional who is happily moving his beautiful family to Happy Valley to lead an established practice that has a long and great "Track Record". I have every confidence in him and of course all the great folks that will still be there to continue to do their exemplary work! I'll happily be seeing them again in October 2024 for sure!

I had been going to Dr Schimmel for years (out of network) and driving 45 min to him until I discovered thru my insurance UPMC that this office is conducting what is referred to as “balanced billing” and not even submitting procedures done on me w/ coding to my insurance and trying to make me pay out of pocket!! Complete fraud!! Imagine how many other patients (out of network they are ripping off for their own greed. No amount of niceness and dental work will ever be worth taking advantage of good ppl and fraudulently ripping them off for a Drs own wealth and greed- I don’t care who you are. I feel bad for anyone else who has never gotten you itemized statements from Lisa or the office to verify what’s been done to you!! Know your rights!!

Wonderful staff, new Dr is very pleasant, caring and compassionate. I am very impressed with him. Makes Dr Shimmels retirement a lot easier.

On this first day of the year I’m reflecting on what I’m grateful for. I’m grateful for the best dentist/dental hygienist I could ever want . When my insurance changed and Dr.Schimmel wasn’t on the preferred list, I knew there was no way I would leave this office. I pay upfront, Lisa submits my claims immediately and I get reimbursed promptly. Everyone is very professional and I always find it so relaxing on my visits there. Dr.Schimmel gave me a beautiful smile and believe me he had his work cut out for him! Thank you to each and everyone that works there. I hope it’s a great New Year for all! I was so impressed with Dr. Schimmel and his staff at my first appointment. They are very kind and caring. Lisa, at the front desk is personable and welcoming. They took the time to listen to my dental history and concerns. The hygienist was skilled and gentle. She stopped occasionally to see how I was doing. It was such a pleasant experience. I would recommend them highly! Thank you so much Dr. Schimmel and everyone in the office for a wonderful first visit. I highly recommend this dentist!
