Chua Family Dental

Update: I visited another dental office, who informed me that I do not need crown filling. Which means Chua Family Dental was trying to sell me services I did not need. They milk their patients like cows for money. Stay away. Original: Absolutely a rip off, my first visit in February, I gave them my insurance info, and kept asking them to only do the services covered by my insurance. I later get a bill of $1200. Turns out they sold me a bunch of exams and casts and services that I didn't want. Over the phone, I asked for the price for a deep cleaning, the reception quoted $600. I did some research before and knew that deep cleaning needs multiple visits to complete, so I ask if that price is total or per visit. She said it's per visit. Turns out it's per quadrant, so the total is actually $2400!! My second visit in September, I went back for my routine cleaning, and to make a deal that I would like to pay for the services that was covered but I owe co-pay. After some negotiation we reached an agreement for the entire bill of the first visit. But I checked my insurance and see that the office submitted pre-authorization to my insurance for crown filling, which I absolutely did not ask for. Then dentist comes in, spent 5 minutes on my cleaning, pretty rough handed, and left. Did a terrible job, I can still feel the few surfaces he missed. Misquoting prices and selling extra services are deceiving business malpractices, add the dismissive/passive-aggressive cleaning from the dentist - I'm never coming back.

Prices are way above market. Last year I was quoted $200 (after insurance) to re-cement a crown but instead went to Mission Dental Studio (Yang DDS) a block away and got it done for $70. Went to Dr Chua today by accident and paid $330 (!!!) just to re-cement a crown, after insurance. That’s crazy. Wish I had inquired about the price in advance, as I’m used to paying $70-100 for this service. Otherwise the quality of the service is GOOD and probably worth the price, but there are more affordable options nearby.

Great dentist. Great price, fair. He is very friendly and nice. He is the best dentist in San Francisco. Close to Bart and plenty of parking validated. All my coworkers come here. I love him and his team. After 10 + yrs. Great dentist. Highly recommend.

I was recomended a couple dentists in this area and im so glad I chose Dr Chua. He is not only understanding but patient and very careful with his work. He explained all the procedure before and made sure I understood. You can tell by his work he has strong experience . I definitely recommend his work and also prices are acceptable nothing too crazy or imposible like in so many other places. I've had my fare share of bad dental experiences and im so glad this was not one of them. Definitely recommend him.
