So far they haven’t killed me yet! Great experience and great staff! But very expensive! I have never had to pay 50% for preventative oral exams ever until I got here.

Nov 08, 2024 · DJ Lugo Rosado$13K for a BROKEN SMILE [Update 12/23/2024] UPDATE *I reached out again after the owner replied to my review asking about the amount he was willing to refund - which was never provided - and I am STILL WAITING for his response. And to clarify - in our initial communication he mentioned that he would need to subtract the fees and although I asked in that moment, he never clarified an amount.* Early this year I had an implant procedure completed at this dental practice. In less than 6 months, the implant bridge broke. The dentist that completed the procedure is no longer at Big Smile, however, I still went back to ask how we were going to deal with this issue since the procedure was completed and paid for there. My biggest fears became a reality… there was much insecurity about how to deal with this since they were not the dentist who performed the procedure. They let me leave the office without doing anything to my broken tooth, while they figured out what the next step was, and they mentioned that it did not present a “choking hazard.” Before I left that day. I asked the amazing ladies at the front desk (they were always great with me) if they thought I would be charged again to fix this issue – their facial expressions, priceless and the response was “I don’t know.” 2 days later the broken piece that was “not a choking hazard”, fell out. The owner of the practice asked for some time to figure out if he needed to “saw it off or what”. This was a huge red flag that made me feel uneasy, however, I gave him time to review the options. In the communications that followed he said that from what he could see, the actual implant was faulty and tried to explain all the ways that he would have done the procedure differently. He mentioned that it might have cracked in the moment of putting it in place. He talked about the material, the color matching and a bunch of additional dental jargon that at this point didn’t matter. He said that he could replace it with a different material that may not be aesthetically pleasing, but “it’s the bottom front teeth so it wouldn’t matter”. I quickly realized I didn’t have the confidence in the owner or the colleagues remaining there to return to the practice so I requested a refund that covered the last part of this process. Just the amount I needed to be able to pay at another practice to have this fixed. He called me several times and in every conversation, he would say I was twisting his words when I have the emails that were exchanged. I felt completely disrespected and consistently belittled with every communication exchange. He said he asked his personnel at the Front Desk about me and they said they thought I was nice! He said that requesting a refund was unreasonable and that he would replace my implant at no cost. After being disrespected, how does he expect I can sit in a chair and have close personal contact with him? And with every interaction he repeated “I’m sorry this happened to you”. If you are TRULY sorry, you would respect my decision and accept the fact that I do not trust you and therefore provide a refund for the “Faulty implant”. Since he admitted the product was faulty, a refund is the right thing to do since I had no control over the product that broke in less than 6 months. I paid $13K for the entire process. I only requested the corresponding portion to be refunded to me. It may be insignificant and unreasonable to this business owner, but it is very significant to me! This is about me looking out for my own well-being. He has yet to respond to my claims and therefore, my family and I can no longer recommend Big Smile Dental.
