Customer Reviews
I’m going to be honest about my experience. I came in thinking I was getting a new patient exam/cleaning. They only did X-rays and the dentist told me everything was fine. No cavities. Everything looked healthy. I came back a week later for a regular cleaning. Front desk WAS ALWAYS so welcoming!! Love them. I got taken back by Carol, the hygienist. I noticed at once that she wasn’t welcoming, she kept making sighing noises when she was looking at my X-rays. Then she told me to put glasses on which kept sliding up towards my eyes so I asked her if I could take them off and she simply said no. I told her it was rubbing against my eyes making them irritated. She told me to close my eyes…. She began by checking the inside of my entire mouth with her gloves covered fingers for cancer (which was fine) but with that same glove, she kept pushing my cheek towards her aggressively. She started cleaning my teeth and IMMEDIATELY I felt she was being too aggressive. I let her finish the bottom inside and then I started to feel anxious when she kept taking tissues to rub my gums from blood. I tasted blood in my mouth and asked her to stop and she put her hand on my shoulder and tried pushing me back down on the chair asking me to relax so she can finish. I said “no, you’re being really aggressive. I’ve never had a more aggressive cleaning and I can taste blood all in my mouth” and she proceeded to say that I have gum disease!! (WHICH I DONT!) I stood up and asked for a cup to rinse my mouth and she said well maybe if you’d let me finish, I would’ve rinsed it out for you. I left crying. The dentist wasn’t any better. No professionalism at all. Doesn’t really seem to care for patients or his profession to be honest. Worst part about it, the hygienist kept her suctioning tool, along with the other 3-4 tools, on my chest the entire time. What happened to tool trays?! Anyways, I don’t recommend. Front desk was amazing when I decided to leave. I’d give them 10 stars if I could. And I’m sure the other hygienist was fine. I just couldn’t trust going back.
Dr Goyal and his staff are top notch. I’ve referred his practice to many friends and co-workers. The kicker was when Dr Goyal opened his closed office the day after Thanksgiving just an hour after my call to help my son who had an infection from a wisdom tooth breaking through. His accommodation in this regard was above and beyond and I’ll continue to recommend the practice to others
Reception and hygienists are kind, but Dr. Goyal doesn't have great bedside manner. This place is not good for Invisalign. Was told it would be ~14 weeks to get my teeth straight. One year later and my teeth are still crooked, but Dr. Goyal claims "this is the best you're going to get." So I am out a lot of money for just slightly straighter teeth after 1 year and many appointments later. Also, asked him 3 times to remove the cement that is used for Invisalign from my teeth as it gets stained and brushing doesn't remove the stains. I still have the stained cement on my teeth that makes them look brown and they even have pink stains on them. Not sure how that was missed. Dr. Goyal wants my wisdom teeth out. I ask "why?" and he said "it will be easier to keep your teeth clean." Was very insistent on that and did not make sense to me to get surgery just to make life a little more convenient.
Dr.Goyal is a great doctor, have been going to him for several years, and very glad I found his practice. Michelle, the dental hygienist is exceptional, kind, patient and makes the experience painless and enjoyable, yes that right enjoyable. Wouldn't go to anyone else.
I was a new patient and new to the area. I picked the office because it was in my insurance network and close to where I live… but boy I wish I didn’t. The office is very small, dark, and uninviting. No windows, furniture looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 90s. There are about eight waiting chairs clustered around a little table with a bunch of germy magazines on top. No COVID protocol like you see at other doctor’s offices. Aside from that, the service leaves much to be desired. The dental assistant took X-rays of my teeth which consisted of 15 different uncomfortable positions (leaving the room each time to take the photo, then coming back in to change the position). The x-ray machine seemed as antiquated as the lobby furniture and the poor quality of the x-rays photos proved that as well. The dentist came in to look at the X-rays and told me my teeth were worn down and that I need to wear a night guard and that I need three wisdom teeth extracted. That’s all he had to say and was ready to send me on my way. No bedside manner or any attempt whatsoever to make me feel comfortable. He said he would know more once my teeth were cleaned (e.g. if I had any cavities or not). Apparently the 15 X-ray photos could not determine if there were cavities. I was under the impression that I would have my teeth cleaned that day, but no, he told me to go up to the desk and make a separate appointment for the teeth cleaning (even though the office was completely free of patients and it could surely have been done at that time). Anyway, the receptionist told me they could get me in for a cleaning within three months. Three! As soon as I entered that dungeon of an office and looked around, I should have known to just turn around and get out of there and not waste my time. Hopefully this review prevents someone else from the same experience. Please, don't do what I did, and do your research. Go anywhere but Allendale Dental. There's a reason why there were no other patients in that office from the time I entered to the time I left. Update: I went to another dentist the very next week and the experience was polar opposite. Only problem was I had to drive 45 minutes to get there but man, it was worth it. As a new patient, they provided complimentary exam and x-rays and performed teeth cleaning (which my insurance covered) all at the same time. I was relieved when they told me I had no cavities and that I had been taking great care of my teeth, explaining everything they were doing the entire time.
